The Line House

The Line House ‘ is a 1000 sqft apartment located on the 5th storey of the building.

The design ideology realises the importance of framework and play with Simple series of line. The concept was to unlock the 3rd dimension of the lines which leads to deconstruct the form in many ways to create asymmetrical shapes and every corner creates a variable experience of volume form which resolve the space and gives it a dynamic experience.

A line house is a place crafted out with clear understanding of family lifestyle which revolves around lines, colour and light.

Upon entering the pathway one can see the continuity of the lines which follows to the library with a huge glass panelled doors giving transparency throughout the space as a visual connection.

Sometimes all a house needs some gestures to transform it into a home. We came up with a proposal to create a large and fluid living space taking advantage of the natural lighting and recreating spaces, by eliminating the solid kitchen partitions and uniting the kitchen, living, dining and pooja .

As it is an open house plan, the asymmetrical lights which follow throughout the space  shows the connection as whole house is connected on a single line. Passing the lights through the beams gives the circulation of entering each space. We have given emphasis on continuity of lights and lines. In the main living space, the dining and living furniture has been placed almost centrally. A more intimate dining space was designed to make most of the square window framing with a view of outdoor as well as equally important experience of sitting underneath homogeneous rafters with playful curve lights. The dining resting on the back of sleek and minimal Blue Suede Sofa. The entire house was designed on monochromatic scheme so to brighten up the space we chose on a suede fabric. The kitchen features with back painted glass shutters with a glossy surface and quartz kitchen top. Kitchen Cabinets resting on contemporary metal framework which contrasts with sleek sofa legs. Continuing with open Pooja space we have our crockery unit on the other end which shows eliteness of the entire house. The handles here were designed in a way by keeping the language of lines in mind.

Bedroom panels which runs through the ceiling and follows the bed back panel composed with cement boards. The bedroom also has a completely customised bed with an angular slope on the side. The bed back panel and ceiling are made with cement board to develop asymmetrical 3D form which was complicated but it needed a clear detailing. The play of material continues for the whole house. The house incorporates bold and modern Language in its composition of forms and lights. Thus the versatility of the space and its connection provides a spatial richness within.
